The substances are made from plant raw materials and do not harm nature, encapsulating small droplets of oil which makes this oil much easier to skim from water. Independent lab tests show oil absorption capacity of 50:1 and oil removal efficiency of over 99%
The founder of Biomicrogel, Andrey Elagin, says that due to their high cost, microgels were previously used in the field of medicine, but now available for industrial application too.
